A Faculty Development Programme on ‘TEACHING, ASSESSMENT, RESEARCH AND CONSULTANCY IN ENGINEERING AND MANAGEMENT EDUCATION was organized by the institute in association with Rajadhani Business School from 30 May to 03 June 2016. The main objective of the programme was to enlighten the faculty members of engineering and management disciplines with current happenings in higher education system and make them an asset to the institution. The focused areas were Rules, Regulations and Evaluation System of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Tehno Pedagogy, Innovative teaching Methods, Industrial Consultancy and Funding, Advanced Research Methodology and Norms for Faculty Members in Higher Education
The programme was inaugurated by Dr K Vijayakumar, Director of Technical Education, and Government of Kerala. He expressed that the FDP would make the faculty members conversant with the techniques teaching and learning. Shri S Nambi Narayanan, Former Scientist, ISRO was the guest of honour and delivered the special address. Dr Biju Ramesh, Chairman RIET delivered the presidential address and Dr R Sathikumar, Principal, RIET welcomed the guests and participants. Dr K Balan, Dean (PG) and Prof Janardhana Iyer, Dean (UG) felicitated the occasion. Dr Rajesh S Pyngavil, Professor – MBA and FDP Coordinator proposed vote of thanks.
The resource persons covered various contemporary issues and concerns in higher education with special reference to Engineering and Management disciplines. The experts included Dr S Shabu, Controller of Examinations, APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University; Dr Ramachandran, Curriculum Advisor, APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Dr T C Thankachan, Associate Professor, St. Thomas College of Education, Pala; Prof K Saseendran, Associate Professor, NIT Calicut, Mr. S Syamkumar, Managing Director, Innovation Experience, Trivandrum, Dr Prakash Pillai, Head, Department of Personnel Management, Loyola College of Social Sciences, Trivandrum; Dr N Asok Kumar, Principal, College of Engineering, Idukki; Dr K Balan, Dean (PG), RIET, Prof Rajit K Nair, Director- RBS, Prof Mathwes Paniker, HoD, EEE – RIET and Dr Rajesh S Pyngavil, Professor – RBS. Faculty members from Lead College of Management, Palakkad, Musliar Institute of Management- Pathanamthitta, Mangalam College of Engineering - Kottayam, Loyola College - Trivandrum, M G College of Engineering - Thiruvananthapuram, ACE College of Engineering, Trivandrum; Vellappally Natesan College of Engineering, Kayamkulam, Rajadhani Business School and Rajadhani Insitute of Engieering and technology attended the various sessions. An interactive session with Academic Auditors of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University was also organised. The FDP was well received by the participants and it was a good learning experience for them.
